They are good quality and have been running them for the last 5 years clocked about 60,000 miles in them on the 1190 Adventure. Picked up a 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT and even with my stubby legs I feel so much better on this bike in the parking lot action or coming to a stop on an off camber. And these boots help. I recommend highly.
Yup on my 1290 Super Duke it dyno'd 149 stock, 158 with a full akra and flash, and 170@102ft/lbs with a MH + 80mm stacks (gen one 1290 SD-R had 100mm stock) Same dyno at 1000ft MSL for reference. Also the dust that I would find on the butterflies with the stock airbox completely stopped with the MH.

The 890r is a great bike. It handles like a toy at low speeds, but needs a wind screen for longer highway trips. If you weight more than like 180lbs, the suspension is too soft. I'm 230, and the front would bottom out at ever turn entry at the track until i got stiffer springs.

Think of the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT as a comfortable ballistic missile. Powered by a 175 horsepower V-twin cranking out 141 Nm of torque, it devours provincial and border lines with minimal effort. Needless to say then, when it comes to covering ground comfortably at speed, the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT is a bit of a weapon.
What looses it for the BMW is weight and length. It's too heavy (BMW lie about the weight, they claim similar to GT, but it's a good 20KG heavier and carries that weight much higher up, GT feels like a tiny baby in comparison). But while we're talking about weight/length - the XR will easily win at the traffic light GP.
If you can find one, the Super Duke GT would be my sport tourer of choice. Second would be 1290 SAS. I’ve been in this predicament for years. I also have a wife that loves touring with me. The 1290 is damn near perfect with the exception of how tall it is. If you can handle the 1290’s height and weight it’s definitely the right choice.
